About

Pete O'Donald is a painter working in oil on canvas and wood panel.

Born and raised in Manchester, Pete studied painting under Dave Ballins at St John's College — a teacher whose own training under Francis Bacon at the Royal College of Art in London left a lasting imprint on his approach to figuration, colour, and the raw physicality of paint. Ballins' motto was "everything is Art."

In the late 1980s, Pete left England for Germany during the upheaval of the Wende, immersing himself in the art scenes of Berlin, Offenbach and Frankfurt am Main. After years of exhibiting and working across these cities, he is currently located in the small town of Witzenhausen in northern Hesse, where he continues to paint from his studio.
